It’s a good time to be a Resident Evil fan! After the success of Origins Collection and Resident Evil VII: Biohazard, Capcom have doubled down on bringing more of the series to modern systems. Recently, the publisher ported over Resident Evil 4, 5, and 6 to the current-gen consoles with both digital and physical releases. Now, Capcom have announced that they are bringing Resident Evil: Revelations to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One later this year.
Revelations, originally released on the Nintendo 3DS in 2012, was given a visual upgrade and ported to the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U and Microsoft Windows back in 2013. Set between the events of Resident Evil 4 and 5, the game follows the classic pairing of series protagonists Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield as they fight to stop a terrorist group in possession of Bio Organic Weapons.
Revelations received critical praise for its atmospheric tension and merging of classic, slow-paced terror with the third-person shooter controls made popular by 4. When the game was first ported from the 3DS to home consoles and PC, it introduced a wealth of new weapons, characters, difficulty modes and graphical upgrades. Hopefully, this re-release brings even more to the table and makes Revelations an essential purchase for PS4 and Xbox One gamers.
